Junior Cycle Short Courses
08/04/2013 - IBEC and the National Association for Principals and Deputy Principals are working together to support the Junior Cycle reform by developing short courses. This is an unrivalled opportunity for business to have an impact on curriculum development.

New Government transitions document
08/04/2013 - A new joint paper has been published by the Department of Education and Skills, NCCA, IOTI, IUA, SEC, and HEA on transition from second level education to around broader undergraduate entry, reducing grading bands, addressing predictability in the Leaving Certificate examination and a move away from rote learning and the points race. These are areas that have been lobbied for by IBEC for some time now.

National Employer Survey
14/01/2013 - The National Employer Survey, published today, is a pilot survey undertaken on behalf of the HEA to ascertain employers views on graduates of higher education institutions in Ireland.

Springboard graduates now available for employment
13/09/2012 - There are 3500 highly qualified graduates of Springboard higher education courses now available for employment in areas that have been specifically identified as a skills need area by employers.

Inquiry based science education
17/07/2012 - Inquiry based teaching methodologies have been suggested as a way to encourage and engage students in science and mathematics by increasing their interest and also by stimulating teacher motivation.

Part-time higher education and training in Ireland - Consultation paper
11/06/2012 - A consultation on part-time higher education and training from the HEA proposes a range of actions to enhance provision and support for students who participate on a flexible/part-time basis.

Initiation of reform of Irish higher education
05/03/2012 - The Higher Education Authority published a series of papers outlining how they will implement significant reform in Irish higher education,in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education.

13/01/2012 - IBEC has responded to plans for a new agency to manage and fund further education and training. Solas is a result of the merger of the Vocational Education Committees and FÁS.

Education and Training Boards Bill, 2011
12/01/2012 - The Government has published a draft Bill setting out the role of the 16 new Education and Training Boards

Second level science curriculum reform
04/01/2012 - The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has completed the first phase of its consultation on a new draft syllabus for physics, chemistry and biology.

Moving from second level to third level education
06/01/2012 - The Leaving Certificate is a high stakes examination, used for selection to higher education. There is growing anecdotal evidence that the system is no longer fit for purpose.

Minister backs Junior Certificate reform plan
03/11/2011 - The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, has backed proposals for reform of the Junior Certificate.
